Backpack Health Appoints Lauren May as Vice President

Former Drexel University College of Medicine Research Development Director Promoted to Vice President of Compliance & Subscriber Success for Backpack Health

Dover, MA – July 15, 2019 – Backpack Health, LLC, a mobile and web-based multi-lingual digital health data management platform that helps people with chronic, serious and rare health concerns better manage and access their health information, announced today that Lauren May has been appointed Vice President of Compliance and Subscriber Success.

In her new role, May will oversee research activities, ensuring that all legal and ethical requirements are met, and will lead the company’s relationships with platform users, foundations, advocacy groups and industry clients.

“Backpack Health offers patients around the world the best tools to place themselves at the center of their own health, and there is no one better than Lauren to ensure that our digital health platform is reaching its full potential to benefit users,” said Jim Cavan, CEO and co-founder of Backpack Health. “Having supported clinical research at Drexel University College of Medicine, Lauren also has a deep understanding of the importance of clinical trials and what goes in to protecting the data and best interests of those who participate in such studies.”

May brings more than 15 years of project management experience in both the pharmaceutical industry and academia and has worked extensively in human subjects research administration. Her experience implementing the use of electronic health records for research elevates Backpack Health’s ability to help patients access their data while ensuring that health records are used appropriately for research. She holds a Master of Public Health from Drexel University. May previously served as Director of Research Program Development and Senior Coordinator at Drexel University College of Medicine. Prior to that, she worked at Johnson & Johnson as a global planner and associate scientist.
