Backpack Health Expands Leadership Team to Establish Nutrition and Wellness Group

Nutritional Consultant Kacie Sanderson to Establish Nutrition-Focused Group to Provide Additional Support for Users in the Rare Disease Community

Dover, MA – July 23, 2019 – Backpack Health, LLC, a mobile and web-based multi-lingual digital health data management platform that helps individuals living with chronic, serious and rare health concerns better manage and access their health information, announced today that Kacie Sanderson, RD, will join the company as a nutritional consultant.

In this new role, Kacie, a clinical dietitian, will develop nutritional materials and establish and manage the platform’s Nutrition and Wellness group, a resource that will help users make informed and practical food and lifestyle decisions that will accompany treatment plans, which will be launched in the coming months.

“Dedicated to easing the patient journey for those living with rare diseases, we are thrilled to expand Backpack Health’s comprehensive services to include a designated space for nutritional information led by a veteran in the rare disease nutrition space,” said Jim Cavan, CEO and co-founder of Backpack Health. “With Kacie’s experience counseling children and adults living with genetic and metabolic diseases across the United States, we are eager to offer her services to our users.”

Sanderson joins Backpack Health after having served as a clinical dietitian at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, where she provided nutritional counseling and medical nutrition therapy to patients with rare diseases, such as inborn errors of metabolism, intensive care and heart transplant patients. She has also worked with athletes and weight management groups to help individuals make healthy lifestyle choices.

“I am excited to join the Backpack Health team to assist individuals living with chronic or rare diseases, and their caretakers, manage their health journey,” said Kacie Sanderson, RD. “Understanding the vital role that nutrition plays in managing rare genetic and metabolic conditions, and the difficulty of staying on top of the latest studies and research, I hope to provide users with compatible materials that will help them take control of their health journeys.”
